OUC Set to Launch $9M Hydrogen Electrical Generation System

OUC Set to install two additional hydrogen energy plants that harness solar energy to extract the hydrogen from the water below, similar to the system currently at OUC's Gardenia Center

Through a green-energy initiative, Orlando Utility Commission (OUC) is poised to more than double its reliance on solar power through the development of a nation-leading, hydrogen system for generating electricity. $4M of the $9M will come from a federal grant through the U.S. Department of Energy, which will help build the solar-hydrogen system to capture, store, and utilize the gas to generate electricity.

Current plans have two 500-600 acre facilities being installed in Osceola County. Each plant would be capable of producing enough energy to meet the demand of about 13,500 homes (roughly 75 megawatts each!)
